چکیده
Evidence supports the notion that craniofacial fractures are significant predictors of cervical spine injuries (CSIs), but some debate remains on injury mechanism co-existing CSIs in and relationship between CSI specific facial fractures. In this retrospective study, we aim to assess incidence rates fracture types as well other important variables their with CSIs. The primary outcome variable, CSI, several predictor variables, including type, were evaluated logistic regression analyses. Of 2919 patients, total rate was 3.0%. Rates patients isolated mandibular (OR 0.26 CI 0.10, 0.63; p = 0.006) lower than those previously reported, whereas nasal strongly associated 2.67 1.36, 5.22; 0.004). Patients concomitant cranial twice likely have 2.00, 1.22, 3.27; 0.006). Even though there is a strong occurrence injuries, clinicians should be aware presenting at risk for sustaining also.

STANDARDS There is insufficient evidence to support treatment standards. GUIDELINES There is insufficient evidence to support treatment guidelines. Early closed reduction of cervical spine fracture-dislocation injuries with craniocervical traction is recommended to restore anatomic alignment of the cervical spine in awake patients. Closed reduction in patients with an additional rostral injur...
متن کاملHydatid Disease of the Cervical Spine Mimicking Traumatic Burst Fracture
Background & Importance: Hydatid disease of the spine is rare but constitutes approximately 50% of bone involvement cases in human hydatidosis. It is a severe condition associated with a high rate of morbidity, disability and mortality. Case Presentation: In the present paper, we report an intriguing case of cervical spinal hydatid disease mimicking traumatic burst fracture. Con...

Recognition of injuries to the cervical spine is of critical importance. Such injuries may be difficult to recognize in patients who have an altered level of consciousness or other significant injuries. We present the case of an alert ambulatory patient with no complaint of neck pain, no tenderness of the neck on physical examination, and , o history of trauma who, while being evaluated for fev...

There was no lower extremity weakness or bowel o...
متن کاملOccult ligamentous injury of the cervical spine associated with cervical spine fracture.
We report the case of a 20-year-old patient with a C5 cervical spine fracture and an undetected ligamentous lesion between C1 and C2. Cervical spine lesion protocols and the rates of lesions that are not diagnosed with standard evaluation protocols are reviewed, with particular emphasis on comatose patients. Dynamic studies during the surgical procedure for fixation of the fracture are recommen...
